Earth Day

Greetings Earthlings! This Thursday 22nd April, it’s Earth Day. It’s a day of reflecting on our own personal impact on our planet and how we can make a difference every day with little positive changes to how we live our lives. We got our creative juices going to transform some top tips into fun posters so that the message can spread far and wide!

MEATLESS MONDAY

A growing concern in the fight against climate change is livestock. By switching just one meal to a vegetarian or vegan option you can really help the cause. Stuck for inspiration? Earthday.org have a bunch of delicious climate friendly ideas to help inspire your meals and light up your plates.

REDUCE YOUR SINGLE USE PLASTIC

From straws, to bags and even chewing gum (seriously), plastic is everywhere but completely avoidable. Do your bit reducing how much you use. Grab a fashionable tote bag (and use it again and again), choose a stainless steel or glass straw next time you’re going for a drink. Fancy chewing plastic? Nah, try some plant based gum instead.

GO DIGITAL

What’s worse than bills, bills, bills? Paper ones. Make a switch to digital billing and the environment and your home’s filing system will thank you. It’s a simple way to prevent paper waste.

POWER SHOWER

A little change to your daily routine like taking a shorter shower or installing a water-saving shower head can significantly reduce the amount of water you use. Even better, you’ll be saving water and saving money. You can still sing, of course.

SUSTAINABILITY NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE

Want to be at the forefront of one of the year’s hottest trends? Stop shopping for new clothes. Everything old is new again as a major shift to rediscovering hidden gems in our own closets and buying second hand has become highly fashionable. 64% of the 32 billion garments made each year ending up in landfill, so you can help reduce that number by repairing through an app like Sojo or recycle garments that are thread bare. Read our Insights for even more stats on the bonkers economy of fast fashion.

STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

The number of stars visible in our skies have increased as a result of less light pollution during lockdown. We all have the power (quite literally!) in our fingertips to switch our own lights off so the ones in the great cosmos can do their thing and light up our night sky.

Have you made any small changes that have big positive impacts on our planet? Are you making your own Earth Day pledges? We’d love to hear your green tips over on Twitter and Instagram.
